Overview
Before you dive into
the thought that Hawaii
is only about beaches and grass skirts, here are some suggested activities that
will help you change your mind:
Experience the Kilauea Volcano on the Big Island
Have you ever tried
hiking through lush rainforest to see vents giving off steam, brand new land
being created, and ancient Hawaiian petroglyphs? How about walking through lava
tubes and unrivalled vistas?
Over the last 24 years, the Kilauae Volcano has been spewing non-explosive
eruptions in the islands. In January 2000, it is recorded to have edged the
island with thick lava that came up to 2.5 million yards. It is definitely a
good sight to behold if not for the danger that it might bring.
Hover around the island of Kauai
Of all the islands in Hawaii, it is Kauai that has the most beautiful mountains. Each slope is decked with countless shades of green. The only way to enjoy this is by a helicopter ride.
Snorkel off the island of Molokini
“It’s a different world down there,” as the divers say, referring to the awesome beauty under the sea. The finest example of that are the waters around the island of Molokini, which on most days is clear enough to let you see through between 80 feet and 200 feet. What’s even better is that you don’t need to know how to swim, because all boats have devices to keep you afloat, some even have glass bottoms so you can stay dry and see the fishes at the same time.
Bike down Maui's Haleakala Mountain at sunrise
The Haleakala Mountain is one of the most enigmatic mountains in all the islands of Hawaii - minus, the fiery ashes and rocks coming out of the crater. You can walk right to its mouth and marvel at the powerful experience around it. Imagine a 3,000 feet deep crater, about two miles wide. You can actually stand on the verge and look down into the giant hole. You’ll be amazed at the feeling that is bubbling over inside you during sunset and sunrise.
Shop in Waikiki
Pick out your choice from an array of items, from the smallest ones in quaint shops to the most expensive ones in large shopping centres. Delight in wading through mountains of T-shirts dyed with Hawaiian red dirt, macadamia nut cookies, music CDs by local musicians, coffee, books, designer clothing, custom jewellery, furniture, surfboards, tropical flowers, and fine art and gifts handcrafted of wood, ceramics, fabric, or glass.
